Having spent considerable time behind the wheel of the 2020 Kia Sonet in India, I can say it truly shines as a compact SUV with its five engine-gearbox options tailored for our roads, from the punchy 1.0-litre turbo-petrol iMT and DCT delivering energetic mid-range pull up to 6600rpm for spirited city sprints and highway overtakes, to the refined 1.5-litre diesel-auto combo boasting 113bhp and 250Nm that makes effortless mile-munching at under 2000rpm for 100kph cruising. The diesel manual, with its frugal 20.8kpl highway efficiency and 15.4kpl in city traffic, edges out even the Seltos, while the turbo-petrol hits 16.5kpl on open stretches. Ride quality impresses with well-tuned suspension that handles broken roads without floating or wallowing, offering composed high-speed stability and 205mm ground clearance perfect for pothole-ridden highways like my Udaipur runs. The cabin feels premium with leatherette seats, ventilated fronts for our heat, and segment-first features like UVO Connect, though rear space is snug for three adults and wind noise creeps in above 100kph. Overall, it's a feature-packed, easy-to-drive standout that raised the compact SUV bar upon launch.

Having spent considerable time behind the wheel of the 2020 Kia Sonet in India, I can say it remains a standout compact SUV even years later, with its 1.0-litre turbo-petrol DCT delivering brisk 118 BHP and 172 Nm that makes city commutes effortless and highway overtakes punchy at around 2,100 rpm for 100 km/h. The seven-speed DCT shifts seamlessly with paddle shifters, offering refined idle smoothness and quick responses in traffic, though it hesitates slightly on aggressive downshifts from second to first. On long Indian highways, like those to Udaipur, the diesel 1.5-litre AT variant shines as an effortless mile-muncher with 18-20 kmpl efficiency, stable handling without wallowing, and ample low-end torque for easy cruising up to silly speeds. Ride quality balances urban potholes decently, but it feels a tad bouncy over bad patches, and rear space is snug for taller passengers. Fuel economy impresses at 15-16 kmpl for petrol DCT on mixed runs, while the feature-packed cabin with six airbags, ESP, and hill-hold assist keeps it safe and premium. Recent user feedback confirms its smooth drive and value, making it a reliable pick for first-time SUV buyers despite minor wind noise above 100 km/h.

I believe this special edition will appeal to buyers looking for a more premium feel without the top-tier price.
