Jaguar has announced that production of the Jaguar XE, including the XE Pure (Diesel), will cease in June 2024 as the brand transitions to an all-electric lineup. This move is part of Jaguars strategy to focus on electric vehicles from 2025. The existing stock of combustion-engine models will continue to be sold until the new electric models are launched.

The Jaguar XE Pure (Diesel) features a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine, which is known for its efficiency and low emissions. This engine delivers up to 57.7mpg and produces CO2 emissions of 128g/km, making it a favorable option for those looking to minimize their environmental impact and reduce fuel costs. I think this engine is a highlight of the XE, offering a great balance between performance and economy.

The XE Pure (Diesel) is praised for its smooth and polished powertrain, which is well-suited for daily driving. The diesel engine provides good torque and acceleration, making it a competent rival to other executive saloons like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class. I believe the XEs diesel option is a strong contender in its class.

Despite its strengths, the Jaguar XE Pure (Diesel) has faced reliability issues, particularly with the timing chains of the 2.0-litre diesel engine, which can lead to engine failure if not addressed. This has resulted in several recalls, although Jaguar as a brand has still managed to maintain a positive reputation among owners.

The XE Pure (Diesel) benefits from Jaguars lightweight aluminium chassis, which enhances handling and reduces CO2 emissions. This design choice makes the XE more agile and fuel-efficient compared to some of its competitors. I think this is a clever move by Jaguar to stay competitive.

In terms of company car tax, the XE Pure (Diesel) is a more favorable option compared to the petrol variants. The D200 diesel engine avoids the top benefit-in-kind (BIK) tax band, making it a better choice for company car users looking to minimize their tax liabilities.

The Jaguar XE Pure (Diesel) comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, which is smooth and responsive, although not as sharp on kickdown as some of its German rivals. This gearbox complements the diesel engine well, providing a comfortable and efficient driving experience.

The XE Pure (Diesel) features advanced technology such as variable exhaust valve timing and a cooled low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, which help in reducing NOx emissions and improving overall efficiency. These technologies make the XE one of the cleaner diesel options available.

The interior of the XE Pure (Diesel) is well-equipped and comfortable, although it has some drawbacks such as more tyre roar and wind noise compared to its German competitors. However, the XEs comfort over bumps and its overall driving experience make it a solid choice in the executive saloon segment.

The Jaguar XE Pure (Diesel) has a relatively small boot but compensates with a large opening and standard-fit 40:20:40 rear seat split-folding, which enhances practicality. This makes it a viable option for those who need a balance between performance and utility.
