The Hyundai Xcent subcompact sedan has been removed from the companys India website, marking the end of its production run. This move follows the launch of the Hyundai Aura, which is considered the next-generation model of the Xcent. The Xcent was Hyundai Indias first sub-4 metre sedan and had a significant presence in the market. I believe this transition will help Hyundai focus on more modern and feature-rich models.

Hyundai updated the Xcent with additional safety features across all variants, including ABS and EBD, along with dual front airbags. This update was part of Hyundais effort to enhance safety standards in their vehicles. The Xcent, with these new safety features, became a more competitive option in the subcompact sedan segment. I think this was a wise move to attract safety-conscious buyers.

Hyundai introduced a factory-fitted CNG version of the Xcent Prime, targeted at fleet operators. This model was available in two trims, T and T+, priced at Rs. 5.93 lakh and Rs. 6.12 lakh respectively. The addition of the CNG variant was aimed at increasing sales and competing with other models like the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Tour. I think this move was a good strategy to tap into the fleet market.

The new model featured a revised grille, bumper, and reworked headlamp cluster, giving it a more upmarket look. It also came with a new 1.2-litre diesel engine and various feature enhancements. I believe these updates made the Xcent a strong contender in its segment.

The Hyundai Xcent Diesel S (O) variant came with a 1.2-litre diesel engine producing 75PS and 190Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It also featured a rear camera, anti-lock brakes, and 14-inch alloy wheels, along with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This variant offered a good balance of performance and features. I believe it was one of the best value-for-money options in its class.
