The Hummer H3 was designed to be a more compact and fuel-efficient option compared to the H2. It was offered in SUV and truck bodystyles, with a range of available engines, including a 3.7L I-5 and a 5.3L V-8. Transmissions included a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic. It was available in four trim levels - Base, Adventure, Luxury, and Alpha - with the Alpha trim featuring the 5.3L V-8 engine for increased power and performance, although it did come at the cost of fuel efficiency. The H3 proved to be a competent off-roader, but its combination of high weight and weaker engine meant that it wasn't quite as capable as its bigger brother, the H2.
