In May 2022, it was announced that the Hindustan Ambassador, including the Diesel 2.0 DSZ, might make a comeback with a new design and engine, as part of a joint venture between Hindustan Motors and the French automaker PSA Group. This revival is expected to bring modernized versions of the iconic car to the Indian market. I think this could be a great move to revive a piece of Indian automotive history.

By 2014, the production of the Hindustan Motors Ambassador, including the Diesel 2.0 DSZ, had come to an end due to weak demand and financial issues. The last year saw only 2,200 units sold, a significant drop from its peak in the mid-eighties. This marked the end of an era for a car that was once a staple on Indian roads. Its sad to see such an iconic car go out of production.
