Ford has announced the discontinuation of the EcoSport, including the Diesel Titanium variant, as part of its broader strategy to refine its vehicle lineup. This move marks the end of an era for a car that was known for its spirited performance and versatility. I believe this decision will leave a gap in the subcompact SUV market, but Ford is likely preparing other models to fill this void.

In 2021, the Ford EcoSport Thunder Edition was launched in India, featuring cosmetic and feature upgrades. The diesel version of this edition was priced at Rs. 10.68 lakh, ex-showroom. This special edition was part of Fords efforts to keep the EcoSport relevant in a highly competitive market. I believe such special editions can temporarily boost sales, but they dont address the underlying need for a full model refresh.

Ford India had been testing a facelifted version of the EcoSport, which included new front section designs, DRLs, and alloy wheels. I believe these updates were necessary but perhaps came too late to change the vehicles fate.

The Ford EcoSport Diesel Titanium was praised by owners for its powerful 1.5-liter diesel engine, smooth gearbox, and excellent handling. One owner noted that the car was a significant upgrade from other vehicles in its class, offering great road manners and ground clearance. I think the EcoSports performance and features made it a compelling choice for those seeking a sub-4 meter SUV.

The Ford EcoSport Diesel Titanium was recently updated with a new instrument cluster, borrowed from the top-spec Ford EcoSport S variant. This update enhanced the interior features of the Titanium and Titanium+ trims, making them more appealing to buyers. I think this was a good move to keep the EcoSport competitive before its eventual discontinuation.
