Ford India has announced that it will not manufacture cars in India anymore, but the existing Ford EcoSport models, including the Diesel SE variant, will continue to be sold until stocks last. The company will also continue to support existing Ford car owners. The EcoSport Diesel SE, priced around Rs. 11.19 lakh, is one of the variants that will be available in the market for a while longer. I believe this move will impact the resale value of these vehicles, but Fords commitment to customer support is a positive note.

The Ford EcoSport SE variant, which includes the diesel model, was launched in India in March 2021. This variant is notable for losing the tail-gate mounted spare tyre, instead featuring a tyre puncture kit and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The design has been revised to align with the global-spec model. I think this change makes the vehicle look sleeker, but the practicality of the spare tyre will be missed by some users.

Ford India expanded the EcoSport lineup with the launch of the SE variant, which borrows styling cues from the global-spec model. The EcoSport SE Diesel, priced starting at Rs. 10.49 lakh, does not come with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and features a redesigned rear skid plate and a number plate recess below a thick chrome garnish. I believe this new design gives the EcoSport a fresh look, making it more appealing to potential buyers.

The Ford EcoSport SE Diesel variant is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 100PS and 215Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. This variant, like other EcoSport models, offers features such as parking sensors, automatic climate control, and cruise control. I think the combination of power and features makes this variant a strong contender in the subcompact SUV segment.

Ford India had recalled several units of the EcoSport, including some diesel models, in the past due to issues such as faulty seat recliner locks and other safety concerns. However, the SE variant launched in 2021 did not face such recalls, indicating improved quality control. I believe this is a positive sign for potential buyers looking for reliability.
