The Ford Classic, which was essentially the previous generation Ford Fiesta, was set to be discontinued in 2015 to make way for new models. This decision was part of Fords strategy to refresh their lineup and offer more modern options to consumers. The Ford Classic, however, left a mark as a great drivers car in the entry-level sedan segment, known for its excellent handling and ride quality. I believe its legacy as a fun-to-drive sedan will be remembered for a long time.

The Ford Classic was available in both petrol and diesel options, with the Titanium variant being particularly popular. The diesel engine was a 1.4-litre Duratorq, while the petrol engine was a 1.6-litre Duratec. The cars fuel efficiency was notable, especially when driven between 80-100 km/hr. I think the engine options and fuel efficiency made it a practical choice for many buyers.

Fords decision to rebrand the Fiesta as the Ford Classic allowed them to slot it into the entry-level sedan segment more effectively. This move helped Ford leverage the existing components from the Figo, making the Classic more competitively priced. I believe this strategic move helped Ford maintain a strong presence in the Indian market.

In 2012, Ford India introduced the Ford Classic Titanium, dropping the Fiesta from the name. This new variant came with advanced features, improved mileage, and an affordable price tag of Rs 686,000 to Rs 782,000. The diesel variant boasted a mileage of 32.38 kmpl, while the petrol variant returned 21.27 kmpl. I think this move was a smart way to keep the model relevant and attractive in the Indian market.

The Ford Classic Titanium was praised for its stylish exterior, including body-colored ORVMs and a fresh black front grille, which enhanced its overall look. The car also featured new alloy wheels that improved its on-road handling dynamics. With its cool interiors and affordable price, it was a strong contender in the Indian sedan market. I believe the design updates were a key factor in its appeal to Indian consumers.
