The production and sale of the Force One SUV, including the SX 6-seater variant, were considered for termination by Force Motors in March 2016. The company had been struggling to compete with other SUVs like the Mahindra Scorpio and Tata Safari, selling only 3,008 units from November 2011 to January 2016. This low sales figure was far below the initial target of 4,000 units for the first year. I think this decision was inevitable given the tough competition in the SUV market.

In 2013, Force Motors introduced a new base variant of the Force One, the EX variant, priced at Rs. 8.99 lakh ex-showroom Pune. This variant was targeted at tier 2 and tier 3 towns and was powered by a 2.6-liter BS3 diesel engine, producing 82 PS and 230 Nm of torque. The EX variant lacked several features available in the SX model, such as LED DRLs, alloy wheels, and ABS. I believe this move was an attempt to make the SUV more affordable, but it might have compromised on some essential features.

The Force One SX 6-seater variant was equipped with a 2.2-liter FMTECH diesel engine, derived from a Mercedes unit, which produced 141 PS and 321 Nm of torque. This variant also featured several comfort and safety features, including projector headlamps, body-colored electric ORVMs, and a multi-information display. I think the use of a Mercedes-derived engine was a strong point for this SUV, offering reliable performance.

Force Motors launched the Force One EX and SX variants in India, with the SX variant continuing to be a more feature-rich option. The SX variant included features like rear wash/wipe, defogger, audio system, driver’s seat height adjustment, and cruise control, which were absent in the EX variant. I believe the SX variant offered better value for money with its comprehensive feature list.

The Force One SUV, including the SX 6-seater, had a mileage of 17 kmpl as per ARAI certification. The SUV was available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) options, catering to different user needs. I think the fuel efficiency was a positive aspect, especially for those looking for a diesel SUV.
