Over a year now with the XUV700 and the build quality has been just great. No rattles, no issues. The day I bought it it feels just as solid.

It’s hit or miss on the build quality, to be honest. My panel gaps were inconsistent and mine had some annoying rattles from day one. The price is not terrible, but not what I expected for the price.

I don't think people are harsh enough on Mahindra. Their previous models are a huge step up from the XUV700. Is it perfect? No. It's definitely competitive in its segment though.

The build quality is decent, but it’s the long term reliability that will see the test. I am now at 30,000 km and while I have had a couple minor issues, nothing major has come up. Time will tell.

I was skeptical about Mahindra, coming from a Honda. I have been pleasantly surprised by the XUV700. The materials are pretty good for the price point and it feels to be well built.
Does the XUV700's thirstiness justify its performance?

It’s totally worth it. Yeah, it drinks fuel like it’s going out of style, but the way it pulls is just amazing. Every time I floor it, I smile.

I should have got the petrol version. City traffic mileage is atrocious and I'm spending a fortune on fuel. It's good performance, but not worth the running costs.

It's all about perspective. A powerful SUV is not what you should be looking at if you want a fuel sipper. I think the XUV700 does a decent job for what it is.

With careful driving, I've found you can actually get decent mileage. If you're heavy on the throttle, though, you're going to be eye watering fuel bills.

Go for the diesel version. On highways, you get the best of both worlds: great performance, and reasonable fuel efficiency.
Is this infotainment system in the XUV700 a deal breaker?
30 December 2024 06:23
The infotainment system is honestly not as bad as some people make it out to be. But yeah, it has its quirks like everything these days. It's been mostly smooth sailing for me with mine, I've had it for 6 months.
Is this infotainment system in the XUV700 a deal breaker?
30 December 2024 06:23
Are you kidding? It's a nightmare infotainment system. Randomly it freezes, the touch response is horrible and don't even get me started with the connectivity issues. Mahindra still can't get this right in 2024?
Is this infotainment system in the XUV700 a deal breaker?
30 December 2024 06:23
It depends I think on what your expectations are. You might be disappointed if you're coming from a high end German car. For it's price point, it's actually pretty decent. It has big screen and features.
Is this infotainment system in the XUV700 a deal breaker?
30 December 2024 06:23
Yes, the infotainment system has its issues, but it’s not a deal breaker. Because the rest of the car is so good, I can ignore a few software glitches. Mahindra has been pushing out updates regularly plus.

So I was on the fence about buying the XUV700 because of the infotainment issues I'd heard about. I test drove it, and it wasn’t nearly as bad as people online made it out to be. It actually is quite intuitive when you get used to it.
Is the third row on the XUV700 actually usable, or just a marketing gimmick?
30 December 2024 06:23
The third row is actually not bad and I’ve used it for adults on short trips. It’s not first class comfort, but it’s definitely usable for most people.

But I'm being real, the third row is a joke. You can barely fit my kids back there comfortably, let alone adults. For me, it’s basically just extra trunk space.
Is the third row on the XUV700 actually usable, or just a marketing gimmick?
30 December 2024 06:23
Generally people expect too much from third rows. The XUV700’s third row is pretty decent for a car in this price range. Ideal for kids or casual adult use.
Is the third row on the XUV700 actually usable, or just a marketing gimmick?

It’s all about managing expectations, but the third row is usable. For a full time seven seater, you're better off with an MPV. It's okay for occasional use though.

The third row has been a lifesaver for carpooling duties. It's not luxurious, but when I need to haul extra people around, it gets the job done.
