Audi Q5 Updates

The new Audi Q5, set to arrive in the U.S. as a 2026 model, will feature a significant overhaul, including a plug-in hybrid variant. This model is expected to come with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a new battery pack with around 20 kWh of energy storage, aiming for an electric driving range of up to 62 miles on the WLTP cycle and 35-40 miles according to EPA estimates. I think this upgrade will make the Q5 a strong contender in the hybrid SUV market.

Sales of the current Audi Q5 have seen a decline in the first half of 2024, with 24,571 units sold, a 30% drop compared to the same period in 2023. Audi hopes the new generation will help regain market strength in 2025. I believe the new models features and updates will help in regaining customer interest.

The new Audi Q5 is expected to go on sale in the U.S. in spring to early summer 2025, with pricing starting just above the current generations premium 45 TFSI model, around $50,000. The SQ5 model will likely start at approximately $60,000. I believe the pricing will be competitive in the mid-size SUV market.

The new Audi Q5 boasts advanced infotainment and operating systems, including a 14.5-inch touchscreen and a 10.9-inch passenger display. The vehicle also features customizable digital light signatures and modern driver assistance systems. I believe these technological upgrades will significantly enhance the driving experience.

Audi has no plans to release an all-electric Q5 globally, with the all-electric Q5 e-tron remaining exclusive to China. Instead, global customers looking for an electric option can consider the Audi Q4 e-tron or the upcoming Audi Q6 e-tron. I think this strategy allows Audi to cater to different market demands effectively.

The 2024 Paris Motor Show showcased the next-gen Audi Q5, highlighting its updated design, new interior, and enhanced technology. The model on display was the diesel version, but the core design and interior will be similar for the upcoming plug-in hybrid model. The new Q5 features a redesigned front fascia, slimmer headlights, and a massive light bar at the rear. I think the new design elements will give the Q5 a fresh and modern look.

The new Q5 features updated styling, including a redesigned grill, larger air inlets, and slimmer headlights. The rear design includes a massive light bar spanning the entire width of the tailgate, connecting new slimmer tail lights made up of 266 different OLED elements. I think the new design will appeal to both existing and new customers.

Audi has confirmed that the first customer deliveries of the new Q5 will begin in the UK in April 2025, with prices ranging between £49,950 and £74,400. For the U.S., details and prices are expected to be announced early next year. The new Q5 is manufactured at Audi’s plant in San José Chiapa, Mexico. I believe the strategic location of the plant will help in timely deliveries to the North American market.

The new Audi Q5 will be the first SUV based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), featuring efficient and partially electrified combustion engines. The Q5 will come with MHEV plus technology, which includes a 48-volt electrical system to reduce CO2 emissions and enhance performance. I think this platform will set a new standard for combustion engine efficiency.

Audi has issued a stop sale notice for all 2024 Q5 models due to various issues, including a recall related to a trim piece around the window controllers. This has resulted in significant discounts on remaining 2024 Q5 and SQ5 models, with up to $10,000 off the MSRP. I believe this move is necessary to ensure customer safety and satisfaction.
