Our take on this /// Verdict
The Audi e-tron 55 is a game-changer in the luxury electric vehicle segment in India. My experience with this car has been nothing short of exceptional. The e-tron 55 offers a perfect blend of luxury, technology, and practicality. The ride is incredibly smooth and silent, thanks to its air suspension and the absence of an internal combustion engine. The interior is plush and well-appointed, with features like the Digital Matrix lights, 360-degree camera, and four-zone climate control that make it a joy to drive and be in. The cars size, akin to a Q6 between the Q5 and Q7, provides ample space for passengers and cargo, making it highly practical for Indian roads. While it may not offer the most delicate driving experience through corners, it handles them with ease and confidence, making it a great choice for those seeking a luxurious and comfortable EV.
Price
The Audi e-tron 55 is priced around Rs 1.1 crore ex-showroom in India. When you factor in the on-road costs, including taxes and other expenses, the price can easily exceed Rs 1.3 crore. While this is certainly on the higher side, the e-tron 55 justifies its cost with its premium features, advanced technology, and the luxury experience it offers. For those who are willing to invest in a high-end electric vehicle, the e-tron 55 provides a unique combination of comfort, performance, and sustainability that makes it a worthwhile investment. The inclusion of a 22 kW home charger, which charges the battery twice as fast as the chargers provided with other EVs, adds significant value to the package.
Latest Updates

Audi has announced the end of the Audi e-tron model line, with 2023 being the last year of production. The model will be replaced by the Audi Q8 e-tron, which was launched on November 9, 2022. This transition is part of Audis strategy to update and expand its electric vehicle lineup. I think this move is a significant step towards Audis commitment to electric mobility and improving vehicle performance.

In the 2022 model year, the Audi e-tron saw several updates, including a new paint color called Chronos Grey, the replacement of Alcantara with Dinamica, and the introduction of the Black optics plus package. Additionally, support for Wireless Android Auto was added, and a shortcut to the charging screen was included in the MMI system. I believe these updates enhance both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the vehicle.

For the 2021 model year, the Audi e-tron received significant upgrades, including the introduction of the e-tron 60 with three motors and the upgrade to the MIB 3 infotainment system. The vehicle also started offering heated steering wheels with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and replaced USB A ports with USB C ports. I think these changes make the e-tron more appealing and technologically advanced.

In 2020, Audi made notable changes to the e-tron, including the removal of the Lidar radar and the introduction of the e-tron 50 with a smaller battery. The Sportback version was also made available from week 2 of 2020. Additionally, an update increased the available battery capacity from 83.6 kWh to 86.5 kWh. I believe these updates improved the efficiency and versatility of the e-tron.

The production of the Audi e-tron started in week 36 of 2018 at the Audi Brussels Plant. The 2019 model featured a unique VIN number with a K as the 10th digit. This marked the beginning of Audis journey into full-electric vehicles, combining luxury and electric all-wheel drive. I think this was a bold and forward-thinking move by Audi.
Mileage
Monday, 18 November 2024 10:19 AM
The real-world mileage of the Audi e-tron 55 in India is quite impressive, given its size and weight. Under normal driving conditions, the car can deliver a range of between 330 and 370 kilometers on a full charge. However, this range can vary significantly based on driving habits and terrain. For instance, driving through hilly areas like the ghats can reduce the range substantially, using up to 97 kilometers of range for just 84 kilometers of real-world driving. On the other hand, regenerative braking on downhill sections can help recover some of this lost range. On the highway, maintaining speeds between 60-100 kmph and using Efficiency mode can yield a displayed economy of around 5.2 kmkWh, translating to a theoretical range of over 450 kilometers on a full charge.
