Honda Activa (2008) Updates

The Honda Activa, first launched in 2001 and upgraded in 2008, has been a staple in the Indian scooter market. The 2008 model featured a 102 cc, single-cylinder engine producing 7 HP and 8 Nm of torque, paired with an automatic gearbox. This model was known for its durability and ease of use. I think its simplicity and reliability were key factors in its popularity.

By 2015, the Honda Activa had already crossed the 1 crore sales mark in India, a testament to its widespread acceptance. The 2008 model, although discontinued, played a significant role in establishing the Activa brand. Its success paved the way for subsequent generations of the scooter. I believe the Activas enduring popularity is a reflection of Hondas commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

The 2008 Honda Activa was priced between Rs 45,300 and Rs 46,400 in Delhi, making it an affordable option for many Indian consumers. It came in various color options such as Mid Night Blue Metallic, Strand Silver Metallic, and Cosmo Green. The scooters affordability and stylish colors contributed to its appeal. I think the color options added a nice touch to its overall design.

The Honda Activa (2008) had a kerb weight of 110 kg and a ground clearance of 145 mm, making it manageable for a wide range of riders. It also featured a fuel tank capacity of 6 liters and an automatic transmission, which were significant selling points. I believe these features made it a practical choice for daily commuting.

The 2008 model of the Honda Activa included features like an electric start, pillion footrest, and a step-up seat, enhancing rider comfort. It also had a front and rear drum brake setup and alloy wheels, which were advanced features for its time. I think these comfort features were ahead of its competitors back then.

The Honda Activa (2008) had an air-cooled, 102 cc engine and a high rigidity underbone chassis, which provided stability and durability. The scooters overall length was 1765 mm, and it had a wheelbase of 1235 mm, contributing to its stable ride. I believe the chassis design was a key factor in its stability.

The 2008 Honda Activa boasted a mileage of approximately 40-50 kmpl, which was respectable for its engine size. It also had an analogue speedometer and fuel gauge, but lacked a tachometer and trip meter. I think the mileage was a significant selling point given the fuel prices at that time.

The Honda Activa (2008) was known for its combi-brake mechanism, which made it safer to ride by distributing braking force between the front and rear brakes. This feature was innovative for its time and added to the scooters safety credentials. I believe this feature was a game-changer in terms of safety.

The 2008 model of the Honda Activa had a bottom link with a spring-loaded hydraulic damper for the front suspension and a unit swing with a spring-loaded hydraulic damper for the rear suspension. These suspension features provided a smooth ride. I think the suspension system was well-designed for Indian road conditions.

When launched, the Honda Activa (2008) was available in several colors and had a self-start feature, which was a convenience many riders appreciated. The scooters build quality, with more metal and less plastic, was also a highlight. I believe the self-start feature was a big plus for users.
