The X-ADV Special Edition stands alone. In terms of style and capability, none of the other adventure scooters come close. It’s like saying a superhero is like a regular person.

I really do think that the BMW C 400 X is a better allrounder. It might not be as wow as it, but it's more practical day to day and still capable of light off-road.

There is no question you are better off with an Africa Twin if you are looking for a true adventure bike. But the X-ADV is cool; it’s just that it’s an urban warrior, not a true off-roader.

The X-ADV Special Edition I think it serves a special niche. Designed for people who want the convenience of a scooter, the capability of an adventure bike, and head-turning looks. There really aren't any other bikes that check all those boxes.

If you’re basically sticking to pavement, the Yamaha TMAX is the better choice. It is more powerful and has better highway manners. The X-ADV tries to do too much and ends up being a jack of all trades and a master of none.

Being someone who has been down both, I would say that the X-ADV (including the standard version) is more capable off-road than most people give it credit for. That solid base is just that, and the Special Edition simply adds some extra protection and style.

It really can be almost anything. The X-ADV Special Edition is hard to beat if you want something unique that can handle a variety of terrains but is still comfortable in the city. If you’re looking for straight performance in one area, there might be better options.
What’s the difference between the standard and special edition versions of the X-ADV?

Why mess with perfection? The Special Edition is perfect as is. I think Honda's designers obviously thought long and hard about that post-apocalyptic look, and adding more just seems overkill.

Nope, always room for customization! You could probably add some really sick LED lighting or custom decals to take that dystopia up a few notches, though. This is just the beginning of the special edition.

I'm afraid that customizing the Special Edition could actually devalue it. With it being a limited run, it may be worth keeping it stock down the line if you plan on flipping it.
What’s the difference between the standard and special edition versions of the X-ADV?

According to what I've heard, all standard X-ADV accessories should fit the Special Edition. Thus, you get the best of both worlds—you have a unique look and all the customization options of the regular model.
What’s the difference between the standard and special edition versions of the X-ADV?

I feel that subtle customizations would work out. Perhaps a few high-end suspension upgrades or a custom exhaust to match the Special Edition's attitude but not make it too over the top.

I'm a DIY enthusiast, and the Special Edition is a challenge for that. Imagine if you could somehow integrate some post-apocalyptic tech into it, like a solar charger or built-in water purification system? Now that would be cool!
What’s the difference between the standard and special edition versions of the X-ADV?

In some ways, I reckon the Special Edition might actually be less customizable. And that complex bodywork will probably severely limit some of the modification options that you'd have with the standard model.
Would I use the X-ADV Special Edition for everyday commuting?
17 January 2025 06:54
It would be awesome for commuting, I think! It's going to part traffic like the Red Sea, that post-apocalyptic look. Also, think of how awesome you would look zipping up to the office on that bad boy.
Would I use the X-ADV Special Edition for everyday commuting?
17 January 2025 06:54
It could be overkill for everyday commuting if I’m honest. It’s just going to be a pain to clean all those extra bits after riding through city grime. However, the standard X ADV is probably more practical for daily use.

I think the X-ADV Special Edition would be great for someone who commutes on an adventure bike. With the upright riding position and good visibility, you’d be perfect for navigating traffic, and if you wanted, you could take the scenic route home.
Would I use the X-ADV Special Edition for everyday commuting?

I'm worried about parking. It could be a target for thieves or vandals due to that special design. If you're parking it on the street regularly, you're probably going to need some serious security measures.
Would I use the X-ADV Special Edition for everyday commuting?

It would actually be quite practical. The tough design may keep dings and scratches from careless car drivers in tight quarters at bay. They would also make great extra storage options for carrying work gear.
Would I use the X-ADV Special Edition for everyday commuting?

I think it would work for commuting, but after a while you might get tired of the attention it gets. You would become a Q&A session at every stoplight about your bike!
