Bajaj Auto has discontinued the Pulsar 220 S. The company pulled off the non-faired version almost two months ago, when it unveiled the Pulsar 200 NS. The reason for the Pulsar 220 S being pulled off the market is because of its low sales. The difference between the Pulsar 220 S and Pulsar 220 F was just Rs. 3000/- and most buyers preferred to opt for the Pulsar with the projector headlights. Bajaj Auto had intentionally made the Pulsar 220 S as a limited edition, to fill the thirst of people who wanted the 200 but couldn’t get one.

The 2024 Bajaj Pulsar 220F has been launched in India with several new features, including a fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, a USB charging slot, and updated graphics. The bike retains its same design but now offers smartphone pairing for notifications and navigation. It is priced at Rs. 1,41,024, which is about Rs. 4,000 more than the 2023 model. I think these updates will keep the Pulsar 220F competitive in the market.

Bajaj has updated the Pulsar 220F with new graphics that are bigger and bolder, giving the bike a fresh look despite retaining the same body panels as the 2023 model. The bike now features a digital display with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to view incoming calls and SMS notifications, as well as navigation guidance. The engine remains the same 220cc, air/oil-cooled motor producing 20.11bhp and 18.55Nm of torque. I believe these visual and tech updates will appeal to the younger demographic.

The Bajaj Pulsar 220F BS6 is set to be launched soon, with no changes in design or aesthetics but significant updates to meet BS6 norms. The bike will get a new catalytic converter and exhaust, and the engine will be slightly retuned to maintain its torque output. The price is expected to increase by Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 12,000. I think this update is crucial for compliance, but the lack of a six-speed gearbox might still be a point of contention for some riders.

The 2024 Bajaj Pulsar 220F continues to be powered by a 220cc single-cylinder engine, producing 20.11 bhp and 18.55 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed gearbox. The bike features telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks, along with front and rear disc brakes and ABS. The new model includes a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity but misses out on an LED headlight setup. I think the retention of key performance specs and addition of modern features will keep this bike popular.

Bajaj Auto has been working on updating the Pulsar line-up to comply with BS6 norms, and the Pulsar 220F is no exception. The bike will see no design changes but will receive a new catalytic converter and exhaust system. The engine will be retuned to ensure it maintains its current torque output. The price increase due to these updates is expected to be significant. I believe this is a necessary step to keep the Pulsar 220F in the market, but riders might still hope for additional features like a six-speed gearbox.
