Is the real world range of the Tata Punch EV a deal breaker?
Long range variant of the Tata Punch EV is ARAI certified to deliver a range of 421 km. Yet, many owners are reporting much lower real world ranges, with many reporting 200 – 250 km in city driving conditions. This gap between the announced and real range has become a subject of heated debate among EV fans and buyers. There are those who say that the ARAI testing methodology is faulty and doesn’t translate into real world situations, those who think with the right driving technique and ideal conditions you can get as close to claimed range as you can. Range anxiety and charging infrastructure concerns are just another layer to this discussion for those thinking of getting their first electric vehicle purchase from Punch EV.
If you know what you’re getting into, it’s not a deal breaker. In reality, most EVs don’t attain their advertised range. But if you're just using it for city commutes, 200-250 km is more than enough for a week of driving.
