Tata Indigo CS was launched at the Auto Expo 2008, New Delhi by Tata and received a large number of customers from then on due to its good features and low price range. Now, Tata had made some new changes to it and launched it with the name of 2013 Tata Indigo eCS.
Tata Indigo e-CS has a more compact look in its exterior with less than four meters of length, body colored bumpers, sleek paint finish, dual chamber headlamps, classy metallic finished U-shaped front grille with the logo of Tata at center, chromium lined body colored rub rail, gauged wing mirrors, rear demister, front and rear fog lamps, 14-inch seven spoke white alloy wheels, orange colored turn indicators in front headlamps , tail lamps with cylindrical reverse lights and new body colored door handles. It has a length of 3988mm, width of 1620mm and height of 1540mm as its dimension and has a large wheelbase of 2450mm.
It has highly spacious interiors with enough space for good leg room, head room, shoulder room and knee room, keyless entry, dual tone beige and coco brown interiors, fabric upholstery, chrome ringed instrument cluster, beige colored T-shaped three spoke steering wheel and leather wrapped gear knob. For the utmost comfort of the passengers, it includes electrically adjustable ORVMs, all four power windows, adjustable front seats with adjustable headrests, Auto Drive Assist, powerful AC with heater, front rear AC vents, height adjustable driver seat, anti-glare rear view mirror, vanity mirror and large highly spacious dashboard with wooden finished central consoles that consists AC vents, controls and an audio system with CD/MP3 player, USB port, AUX-in and Bluetooth connectivity.
Tata Indigo e-CS has three engine options with two diesel and one petrol engine. The 1396cc common rail CR4 16-valve DOHC BS-IV diesel engine has a maximum power of 70 Bhp at 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 140 Nm at 1800-3000 rpm with a mileage of 25 kmpl on the highways and 22 kmpl in the cities. The 1405cc turbocharged BS-III TDi diesel engine has a maximum power of 70 bhp at 4500 rpm and a maximum torque of 135 Nm at 2500 rpm giving a mileage of 13.6 kmpl in the cities and 18.3 kmpl on the highways. The 1193cc MPFI (Multi Point Fuel Injection System) BS-IV petrol engine has a maximum power of 65 bhp at 5000 rpm and a maximum torque of 100 Nm at 2700 rpm giving a mileage of 15 kmpl in the cities and 18 kmpl on the highways. The diesel variant reaches 0-100 kmph mark in 18 seconds while it takes 17 seconds for petrol variant to reach 0-100kmph mark. All engines have five-speed manual gearbox.
For the safety of the passengers, this sedan has central locking, remote keyless entry, child safety door locks, engine immobilizer, collapsible steering column, crumple zones and anti-theft alarm system. It has disk brakes at front while drum brakes at rear. The suspension system is an independent McPherson strut with coil spring at front and an independent 3-link McPherson strut with anti-roll bar at rear. It has a ground clearance of 165mm and minimum turning radius of 5m for easy cruising on potholed Indian roads and crowded cities respectively.
Tata Indigo e-CS has nine variants to offer which are TDi LS, TDi LX, CR4 LS, CR4 LX, CR4 VX, GLS, GLX, GLV and eMax. It has four beautiful shades which are Royal Burgundy, Porcelain White, Spanish Tan and Jet Silver. It has a price range of INR 4.99-6.20 lakhs (approx., may vary). Overall, this is the most compact sedan in its segment with the most affordable price and reasonable features of comfort, space and safety with brand name of Tata and lacks just in looks and interior quality.
