Yamaha E01 Electric Scooter Makes Official Debut - Photos & Details

The E01 electric scooter's official rental programme has begun by Yamaha in Japan. The brand started an experimental lease programme last year to track consumer behaviour and reception. Customers can now rent it from a few dealerships nationwide.

A stationary lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 4.9kWh and an 8.1kW motor provide power for the Yamaha E01. According to Yamaha, this electric scooter has a range of 104 kilometres. Customers will also receive a portable charger if necessary. But the Yamaha E01 can only be rented by riders who are at least 20 years old and have a valid driver's licence.

The E01 has an LCD console with many features. It includes a speedometer, battery gauge, odometer, clock, riding modes, GPS connection readouts, and more. It is supported by twin rear shocks and telescoping front forks. A single front and rear disc brake are fitted on the alloy wheels as the braking system.

Yamaha has recently shown the E01 to a select group of Indian dealers. It appears that the Japanese company may wait a while before introducing any of its electric scooters in India. Given the expansion of the EV market in India. Nonetheless, there are already a few producers that serve this market, like Ather, Ola, Bajaj, TVS, Hero, Revolt, etc.
