XUV700: Reduced Waiting Times Across Variants

The XUV700 SUV from Mahindra has garnered significant popularity in the Indian market due to its versatility, offering various configurations including diesel or petrol engines, and seating options for 5, 6, or 7 passengers. However, its popularity often translates into extended waiting periods for interested buyers. The latest update brings good news as the waiting time for the XUV700 has decreased significantly across different variants.

Shorter Waiting Times Across Variants

Previously, prospective buyers of the top-spec AX7 L model had to endure a lengthy waiting period of 9 months in June 2023, which reduced to 6 months by October. However, recent reports from our sources indicate a substantial improvement, with the waiting period now slashed to just 2 months for this variant. This reduction in waiting time is undoubtedly welcome news for eager customers.

Variant-Wise Breakdown

Notably, lower variants such as the MX and AX3 now boast remarkably shorter waiting times, with the waiting period for these variants reduced to a mere 1 month. Meanwhile, the AX5 and AX7 models, while still experiencing demand, have seen their waiting periods trimmed to 1.5 months. It's also worth mentioning that variants equipped with ESP (Electronic Stability Program) do not have a specified waiting period, offering a more immediate availability option for interested buyers.

Production Updates and Future Prospects

In addition to addressing the waiting period issue, Mahindra is actively enhancing the XUV700 lineup. The company is reportedly working on introducing an automatic version of the entry-level MX variant, aiming to cater to a broader range of customers and compete more effectively with smaller SUVs like the Creta and Seltos.

Furthermore, the increase in production capacity has led to a notable improvement in the overall delivery backlog. As of February 1, 2024, the backlog has decreased from 2.86 lakh units in November 2023 to 2.26 lakh units, indicating a positive trend towards fulfilling customer demands in a more timely manner.

Pricing and Competitive Landscape

The XUV700 continues to remain competitively priced, with variants ranging from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 26.99 lakh (before taxes). Positioned in a highly competitive segment, the XUV700 competes with other popular SUVs such as the Tata Harrier, Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector, and Hector Plus.

The recent reduction in waiting periods for the XUV700, coupled with ongoing production enhancements and future updates, bode well for both Mahindra and prospective buyers, offering a more accessible and competitive option in the SUV market segment.
