Xiaomi SU7, Unveiling the First Electric Car by the Chinese Smartphone Giant

Xiaomi, the prominent Chinese smartphone giant, is making waves in the automotive industry with its first electric vehicle, the SU7. Recent images of the SU7 have surfaced online as Xiaomi files the necessary documents with local authorities giving enthusiasts a glimpse of what to expect from this eagerly awaited EV.

Xiaomi SU7 Design: A Fusion of Elegance and Inspiration

The design of the Xiaomi SU7 appears to draw inspiration from established electric sedans notably the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6. Examining the front, the hood and muscular haunches resemble the Tesla Model 3, accompanied by teardrop-shaped LED headlights and a bumper featuring an air dam to cool the powertrain.

In profile, the silhouette echoes the sleek lines of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 with hidden door handles reminiscent of the BMW i7 and the Xiaomi SU7 offers multiple rim options ranging from 19 to 20 inches, contributing to its aesthetic appeal. The sloping roofline converges with a pop-up spoiler, not just for style but to enhance aerodynamics and the design is completed by a set of connected LED tail lamps and a sporty rear bumper.

Xiaomi SU7 Interior and Features: A Glimpse into Minimalism and Innovation

While the interior of the SU7 is yet to be fully revealed, spy shots suggest a minimalist cabin design. The inclusion of a funky three-spoke steering wheel and dual displays for instrumentation and infotainment adds a touch of modernity and reports indicate that the SU7 will run on Xiaomi's proprietary operating system promising seamless integration. The SU7 is anticipated to come equipped with the newest gadgets and safety systems, including the ability to drive itself.

Xiaomi SU7 Powertrain: Performance Meets Variety

The SU7 will be available with two powertrain options: a 299PS rear-wheel-drive variant and a robust 673PS all-wheel-drive version. While specific details about the battery pack are yet to be disclosed reports suggest that Xiaomi will utilize the LFP battery pack from BYD emphasizing a commitment to cutting-edge battery technology.

Xiaomi SU7 Expected Global Launch and Rivals: A Competitive Landscape

Anticipated to hit the market next year, the Xiaomi SU7 is set to compete with established models such as the Tesla Model S and the Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan. Furthermore, domestic competitors like Zeekr and Xpeng, who offer customers an alluring range of options in the electric vehicle market, will compete with it. As Xiaomi enters the automotive realm the SU7 aims to make a significant impact on the global electric vehicle market.
