Volkswagen has revealed its latest electric car, the ID 7 Tourer which is the first electric wagon from the German automaker. This new model expands Volkswagen's electric vehicle lineup which already includes sedans.
Key Features of the Volkswagen ID 7 Tourer
Design
The ID 7 Tourer is designed as a sleek electric estate, offering a stylish alternative to traditional wagons. It is slightly shorter, wider, and taller than the next-generation Volkswagen Passat providing a unique electric option.
Size and Space
The car is 4,961mm long, 1,862 mm wide, and 1,536mm tall. It has a 545-litre boot, which can be expanded to 1,714 litres with the back seats folded. This is slightly smaller than the BMW i5 Touring's boot space.
Battery and Range
The ID 7 Tourer will come with two battery options. The Tourer Pro model will have a 77kWh battery, while the Pro S model will feature an 86kWh battery. The Pro S model will have a WLTP range of 685km, which is the longest range of any electric estate on sale.
Performance
Both models will feature Volkswagen's latest APP550 electric motor, with 286hp on the rear axle. This should provide a quick 0-100kph time of just under 7.0 seconds.
Interior
Inside, the Tourer will have a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment display and Volkswagen's new IDA voice assistant system. Optional features include an electronically controlled panoramic roof, massage seats, and a Wellness app.
Volkswagen's Electric Vehicle Plans for India
Volkswagen plans to bring the ID 4 SUV to India, but its launch has been delayed. The price announcement is expected to take place either by the end of this year or sometime next year. Skoda is also preparing to launch the Enyaq SUV in India in the second half of this year.
