Unveiling 7 Affordable Cars Under Rs 15 Lakh

There are over 40 cars to pick from with a budget of Rs 15 lakh, ranging from entry-level hatchbacks to subcompact SUVs. Manufacturers compete fiercely for customers by lowering their prices as much as they can while maintaining the majority of their cars' standout characteristics.

Therefore, if you're considering any of the price ranges covered by this budget, these seven examples are the top models that are less expensive than the most advanced models of their competitors.

7. Maruti Alto K10

The starting price for this car is Rs. 3.99 lakh, and the highest price is Rs. 5.96 lakh. It has a 1-liter gasoline engine under the hood. A 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) are your two available transmission options. The Renault Kwid and the Maruti S-Presso are two of its principal rivals on the market.

The Maruti Alto K10's top-end model offers a price advantage of around Rs 50,000 over the Renault Kwid. The Renault hatchback also comes standard with powered ORVMs, a larger 8-inch touchscreen system, traction control, hill hold assistance, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. CNG is another option available for the Alto, with up to 33.85 km/kg of claimed efficiency.

6. Maruti Ignis

This car is priced between Rs. 5.84 lakh to Rs. 8.16 lakh. It is powered by a 1.2-liter gasoline engine and has two transmission choices: a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automated manual gearbox (AMT). The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Maruti Swift are notable rivals in its class.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Maruti Swift, which are more expensive by up to Rs 87,000 and Rs 35,000, respectively, compete with the Maruti Ignis. The Ignis has a nice design, but it is out of date compared to its often-updated rivals. Compared to the Swift, it lacks ISOFIX child seat attachments, cruise control, automated headlights, and three-point seatbelts for every passenger. The Grand i10 Nios has even more features than the Grand i10, including a larger touchscreen, a wireless phone charging, and six more airbags. Here, the Ignis lacks a CNG option that both of its competitors have.

5. Maruti Baleno

The pricing of this car is between Rs. 6.61 lakh and Rs. 9.88 lakh.It has a 1.2-liter gasoline engine and either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), both of which are options. The Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Citroen C3, and Toyota Glanza are notable rivals in its segment.

When compared to the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, and its rebadged cousin, the Toyota Glanza, the Maruti Baleno offers the most reasonably priced top-end model. The i20 is the priciest rival in this comparison, with top-end models costing about Rs 12 lakh. With capabilities like a heads-up display and a 360-degree camera that are segment firsts, the Baleno is a feature-rich offering in and of itself. Although it has a few more features than the Altroz, the i20 also has a larger touchscreen and an electric sunroof. For enthusiasts, the Altroz and i20 provide the option of a turbo-petrol engine; the latter also has a DCT automatic transmission.

4. Tata Tigor

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Honda Amaze are some of its principal rivals.

The best-spec The top-spec Maruti Dzire is over 45,000 rupees cheaper with the Tata Tigor, while the fully loaded Honda Amaze is nearly 71,000 rupees more expensive. The Hyundai Aura is quite reasonably priced, and its CNG version is less expensive than the Tigor's. The Tata sedan has a smaller touchscreen than the Aura, which has a bigger wireless charger, six airbags, and more features than the Tata sedan.

The price range for this vehicle varies from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 11.02 lakh. It comes equipped with a choice of engines: a 1-liter petrol engine and a 1-liter turbo-petrol engine. You can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automated manual transmission

The Nissan Magnite costs more than Rs 3 lakh less than the most expensive variants of the majority of its competitors. For the cost of a small SUV or a high-end hatchback, you can acquire an SUV with high ground clearance and SUV-like styling. The Magnite's competitors are all, however, more potent and expensive than it. The Magnite lacks features that many of its rivals provide, like an electric sunroof, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, and—more importantly—six airbags.

2. Maruti Ciaz

Maruti Ciaz

This model is priced between Rs. 9.30 lakh to Rs. 12.29 lakh.  With the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus as competitors, this model seeks to offer a competitive alternative on the market.

The Honda City and Hyundai Verna have recently received updates, the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus went on sale in 2022, while the Maruti Ciaz is the least modern sedan in its class. Although you don't have to sacrifice on room or aesthetics because of the low price, you do miss out on some comforting amenities. It forgoes an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, six airbags, and a tyre pressure monitoring system in favor of its competitors. Additionally, it only has a modest 1.5-liter engine, which makes it less powerful than the Verna, Slavia, and Virtus, three other sedans that also offer turbo-petrol alternatives.
