Ultraviolette Automotive, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled its new DC fast charging infrastructure named UV Supernova. This new charging solution is set to significantly reduce the charging time for the Ultraviolette F77 electric bike.
Supernova Charging Stations: Features and Capacities
The UV Supernova charging stations will be available in two capacities: Supernova with a 6kW capacity and Supernova Plus with a 12kW capacity. Each station is equipped with two connectors, allowing two bikes to be charged simultaneously. According to Ultraviolette, these stations can charge the F77's battery from 20% to 80% in less than an hour, which is considerably faster than the existing Boost Charger that takes around four hours for a full charge.
Expansion Plans and Partnerships
Ultraviolette plans to deploy 100 Supernova charging stations across India, with ten already operational in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The company has also partnered with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to set up charging stations at HPCL retail fuel pumps in 12 states.
Compatibility and Impact on F77 Users
The UV Supernova charging infrastructure is currently compatible with the Ultraviolette F77 electric bike, which boasts an IDC range of 307km in its top Recon variant. The real-world range is lower but the introduction of these fast chargers will greatly benefit users who wish to embark on long-distance journeys. The F77's powerful performance, especially in its 'Ballistic' mode, can deplete the battery quickly, making frequent charging stops necessary. The Supernova fast chargers will help reduce downtime and enhance the overall riding experience.
