Pune Police Orders Removal of Tyre Killers

Update (April 03, 2018): According to Pune Police, the tyre killers are illegal as they cannot be installed on public roads. These are used only in places where entry is restricted and mostly fitted under the gates to keep one side of the property safe from outsiders. The tyre killers could prove fatal for local traffic as kids from nearby school may not understand the objective and fall prey to the sharp strip of metal on the wrong side. Original Article (March 28, 2018): Road regulations and rules are made for your own benefit. This term is as important to understand as learning how to ride or drive something for a person. When one breaks a law, he/she stands in the way of hundreds of innocent road going people who fear something wrong could happen to them for somebody else’s mistake. Amanora Park Town has taken a bold step by installing tyre killers at a road adjoining the residential society. This strip allow vehicles to pass from one side only as the other side is equipped with sharp nails that will tear the tyre if approached from wrong side. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHkk35ToWZ0 The video here show people disturbed and scared of the equipment but as soon as they realize it’s safe, everyone is seen going safely over to the other side. But anyone of them will never try to come from the opposite side as sharp openings of this side will kill any tyre within few seconds. This is an amazing solution for places where Police has already announced one way entry but people do not comply with the rules. Saving few hundred meters will now cost all new pair of tyres to the defaulters of this area in Pune. No one cares about the second person and going wrong side is one popular trend. Not just that, there has been instances where the rule breaker has harmed the right person in more than one way. Strictness regarding fines has also increased but still, people do not care about breaking such rules all over India. Installing tyre killers at sensitive locations will help police work for something more productive than just asking people to drive in the right direction. Source
