Triumph Launches the Exciting Scrambler 400 X

Triumph Motorcycles has created excitement in the Indian two-wheeler sector with the announcement of the highly anticipated Triumph Scrambler 400 X, which adds an exciting off-road variant to their lineup. Priced at Rs 2.63 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), this two-wheeled marvel brings an array of enhancements over its sibling, the Speed 400.

Powerful Heart

Under the Scrambler 400 X's rugged exterior resides a potent 398cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that delivers a punchy 40hp of power at 8,000rpm and a hearty 37.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. This powerplant is paired with a seamless 6-speed gearbox that features a slip-and-assist clutch, ensuring precise gear shifts even during spirited rides.

Distinctive Design

In the design department, the Scrambler 400 X exhibits a familiar yet distinctive look, sharing its genes with the Speed 400. However, it showcases a slightly more rugged and off-road-ready appearance. Notable design elements include a sculpted 13-litre fuel tank, traditional Triumph black powder-coated engine casings complemented by gold-anodized front forks, and round LED headlamps equipped with DRLs. While the main frame remains unchanged, the cycle components have been fine-tuned to cater to the Scrambler's adventurous spirit.

Versatile Color Choices

The Scrambler 400 X offers riders the freedom to express themselves with a range of color options, including green/white, red/black, and black/silver. To further customize their ride, Triumph is providing access to 25 optional accessories, enabling riders to tailor their Scrambler to their preferences.

Built for Adventure

This off-road beast is constructed on a new frame that incorporates a bolt-on rear subframe and a robust cast-aluminium swing arm, ensuring durability and rugged performance. The suspension duties are confidently handled by 43mm upside-down big-piston forks at the front and a gas-charged mono-shock unit at the rear, featuring preload adjustment. To tackle any terrain, the Scrambler 400 X boasts an impressive 19-inch alloy wheel at the front and a 17-inch wheel at the rear, all wrapped in grippy MRF Zapper Kurve rubber.

Focus on Safety and Technology

The Scrambler 400 X doesn't compromise on safety or technology. It comes equipped with an array of features, including all-LED lighting encompassing headlights, indicators, and taillights, a semi-digital instrument cluster, ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, dual-channel ABS, a torque-assist clutch for smoother gear changes, and a USB-C charging port for added convenience.

Differences from Speed 400

Comparing the Scrambler 400 X with its sibling, the Speed 400, reveals several notable distinctions. The Scrambler boasts a larger front wheel (19 inches), providing better off-road capability, along with a more substantial front disc brake. ?It also has a wider handlebar for better control, switchable ABS for more flexible braking options, a longer wheelbase, longer travel suspension, and various off-road-specific features such as handguards, a handlebar brace, a lengthened front mudguard, and protective grills for the headlight, radiator, and sump.

Final Thoughts

The Scrambler 400 X from Triumph takes riders on a journey beyond the ordinary, providing the thrill of off-road excursions while keeping a powerful on-road presence. It's intended to appeal to adventure seekers and off-road aficionados, and at Rs 2.63 lakh, it's an appealing option in its class. The Scrambler 400 X, when it enters the Indian market, brings up new possibilities for riders looking for both excitement and adaptability in their two-wheeled adventures.
