The Big Daddy of SUVs is Coming To India - Teaser Video Released

Mahindra is gearing up to introduce the next-gen Scorpio SUV to the Indian market, and the test mule of the car has already drawn our attention thanks to its updated exterior and interior elements. Although no official launch date has been set, the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is slated to go on sale in June to commemorate its 20th anniversary. Now, the brand has dropped the teaser video for the "Big Daddy of SUVs," which features the voice of Bollywood's Big B, Amitabh Bachchan.

The indigenous homemaker is currently one of the most popular SUV sellers in the country, having the Scorpio, Thar, XUV700, and XUV300 in its lineup. And the upcoming new-gen Scorpio is temporarily codenamed the Z101 and is designed by Mahindra India Design Studio (M.I.D.S) in Mumbai and engineered at the state-of-the-art facilities of M.R.V in Chennai. In the teaser clip, we can also see the manufacturer’s employees acknowledging their contribution to the making of the upcoming all-new SUV.

As far as the exterior of the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is concerned, it is expected to go through several updates. It will be built on the new ladder-on-frame platform that has also been seen on the new Mahindra Thar. Exterior changes include a redesigned front grille, a new Mahindra logo similar to the one found on the XUV700, a reworked LED head and taillights, and LED DRLs. Recently, we have also seen spy shots of the interior of the SUV and got to know about the new offerings by the maker. 

The next-generation Mahindra Scorpio will have the same engine lineup as the XUV700. This features a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine designed to provide less power than the XUV700. The engine options are paired with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox, as well as rear-wheel or four-wheel drive systems.
