Tata Collabs With Lithium Urban Technologies To Deploy 5,000 EVs

Every day India is moving towards its low carbon emission and better environment goals, transitioning to a sustainable mode of travelling. Tata Motors, in line with these future preserving ideas, has announced a partnership with Lithium Urban Technologies. Tata aims to provide 5,000 Tata Electric XPRES-T EVs nationwide, keeping employee transportation in mind. The Expres-T will be delivered in phases and all the 5,000 units are to be delivered by 2023.

Tata Motors is leading the electric vehicle space in India, with many carmakers still looking for an opportune moment to enter the EV space in India. Currently, Tata is selling the most electric cars in the country, with a huge market share of 87% in the financial year 2022.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors said, “Targeted at mobility services, corporate and government fleet customers, the XPRES-T EV offers an optimal battery size, captive fast charging solution, which will ensure outstanding low cost of ownership in addition to safety and passenger comfort, making it a comprehensive and attractive proposition for fleet owners and operators.”

Also, the Founder & CEO of Lithium Urban Technologies said, “Our relationship with Tata Motors dates back to 2019 when we placed the first order for 500 vehicles. We are delighted that Tata Motors has brought to market a portfolio of vehicles that cater to the entire application spectrum of corporate and business travel needs.”

XPRES-T as a brand was launched in July 2021 only to cater for the needs of fleet customers. XPRES-T Electric Sedan is the first vehicle under the brand and it is available in two variants, with a driving range of 213 km and 165 km as per ARAI certification under test conditions. The variants come with a battery pack of 21.5 kWh and 16.5 kWh with a charging time (0-80%) of 110 mins and 90 mins. We can charge it conveniently with a 15A plug point, contrary to its fast charging.

The single-speed automatic transmission sedans are installed with dual airbags, ABS and EBD as standard across variants. The interior is black-themed and is matched with its blue accent which will help distinguish the fleet car from the Tata passenger cars.
