Tata Avinya EV to Share Foundation with Jaguar Land Rover’s EMA Platform

  • Maximum cabin rooms and a long driving range are made possible by the Electrified Modular Architecture platform.
  • For the manufacturing of the Tata Avinya, Jaguar Land Rover will also sign an Engineering Service Agreement (ESA).
  • With ultra-quick charging, the Avinya is anticipated to have a range of more than 500 kilometers.
  • It is expected to cost more than Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) and represent Tata's debut in the international EV market.

Tata Motors' EV-specific arm, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM), has created a relationship with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR); both Tata Motors companies have formed a partnership for sharing EV platform technologies. Both firms have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will allow TPEM to use JLR's Electrified Modular Architecture platform in the development of the Tata Avinya. Both subsidiaries will also sign an Engineering Service Agreement (ESA) for the production of Tata's future EV.

What Is This Platform?

JLR created the Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform for its future mid-size electric SUVs, which will be available in foreign markets starting in 2025 and this platform is intended for fully electric vehicles allowing them to maximize interior space and have well-integrated propulsion systems such as larger battery packs, power management systems, and rapid charging speeds. All of this will result in improved driving efficiencies for a longer range and sufficient performance.
The Avinya will be able to support Level 2 + autonomous driving, over-the-air software updates, and over-the-air feature additions thanks to the electrical and electronics capabilities of the EMA platform. Tata will be able to reduce the amount of time and money needed to develop the Gen3 platform for Avinya by using the EMA platform.

About Tata Avinya

The Tata Avinya was initially unveiled in 2022 as the company's concept for a global debut into the premium EV market and the idea was to maximize passenger space while keeping the interior of the cabin as minimalistic as possible. Tata claims that it will have a range of more than 500 miles and that it will have ultra-fast charging which will allow it to reach 500 km in just 30 minutes.

Launch Timeline

It is anticipated that the Tata Avinya will go into production in 2025 and go on sale the same year. We predict that this EV will be Tata's premium EV offering for the worldwide market and that it will cost more than Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
