With new-generation products like the Hunter and the upcoming 450 ADV, it's clear that the Chennai-based manufacturer is stepping up its game significantly. Royal Enfield, like Bajaj, may have plans for a much larger presence in global markets.

Himalayan 411cc has its advantages but it falls short in terms of numbers when compared to competitors such as the KTM 390 Adventure. KTM offers more horsepower compared to the Himalayan and users have noted the Himalayan's limitations when negotiating steeper inclines in slippery conditions. All of these issues are expected to be resolved with the upcoming Royal Enfield 450 ADV.

This new ADV bike has a radically different profile than Royal Enfield's standard design language. The lack of resemblance to Himalayan is most likely intentional. RE may wish to shield this 450 ADV from any known shortcomings associated with its predecessor. Retro styling is limited to features such as a round headlamp and a circular instrument dial.

A muscular tank, front racks, a compact exhaust, and a split seat design are among the key features. While the spotted test mule does not have a bash plate, the production variant will most likely have one.

One of the most significant changes is the addition of USD front forks, rear suspension is mono shock mounted on the right side. It connects the swingarm to the central frame, which is located beneath the fuel tank. Preload adjustability is expected for the rear suspension.

It will ride on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoked wheels. The bike has disc brakes on both ends, and dual-channel switchable ABS is most likely standard. Riding ergonomics appear to be quite comfortable, with a low seat height ensuring optimal balance and handling. The latest spy shots show the new Himalayan 450 with touring accessories, specifically metal panniers.

The engine used is a small, single-cylinder unit with liquid cooling, and the engine head is angled forward. Royal Enfield 450 ADV is expected to match or narrow the performance gap with competitors such as the 390 Adventure, BMW G310GS, and the upcoming Hero Xpulse 300.
