Renault Duster 7-Seater (Bigster) Spied: Expected Launch in 2025

Renault Duster 7-Seater (Bigster) Spied: Expected Launch in 2025

As the SUV market continues to expand manufacturers like Renault are gearing up to introduce new models to tap into this growing segment. Among the upcoming launches, the all-new Renault Duster, set for a mid-2025 release, is generating considerable buzz. Additionally, Renault is developing a 7-seater version of the Duster, which was recently spotted undergoing road tests for the first time.

Renault Duster 7-Seater SUV Performance

The powertrain options for the Renault Duster 7-seater are expected to be similar to those of the new-gen Duster 5-seater. The options include:

  • 1.0-litre petrol-LPG unit: Available in select markets.
  • 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit with hybrid setup: Features a 48V starter motor, delivering 130 hp of maximum power.
  • 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol hybrid: Includes a 1.2kW battery and two electric motors, allowing for up to 80% pure electric driving. This setup is paired with an automatic gearbox.

Given the focus on hybrid and electrification, it's unlikely that the Renault Duster 7-seater SUV will offer a diesel option. Both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations will be available, although the 4x4 system may not be as robust as those found in off-road-focused SUVs like the Thar and Jimny. The Duster will feature multiple terrain modes, including Eco, Off-road, Snow, Mud/Sand, and Auto.

Renault Duster – Styling and Features

The overall design philosophy for the Renault Duster 7-seater will largely mirror that of the new-gen Duster 5-seater, with potential changes to the front fascia and rear to distinguish the two models. The 7-seater version, rumored to be named Bigster, will be approximately 4.6 meters in length, compared to the 4.34-meter length of the new-gen Duster. This increase in size will necessitate adjustments to the side profile such as larger rear doors and a slightly longer wheelbase.

Both the Bigster and the all-new Duster will utilize the CMF-B platform, which is already in use across various Renault-Nissan models globally. Inside, the Bigster will share many features with the new-gen Duster but is expected to offer additional amenities. Key features will include a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a premium sound system, a 7-inch instrument screen, and an extensive range of connected features.

Renault Bigster – India Launch?

The all-new Duster is slated for a mid-2025 launch in India, with the Bigster to follow. There might be a gap of several months between the two launches, as Renault will initially focus on promoting the all-new Duster. Nissan is also expected to introduce its versions of the new Duster and Bigster SUVs.

The Renault Bigster will compete with the likes of the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector Plus, while the all-new Duster will take on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate. As we await the Bigster's reveal, take a look at the images of the new-gen Duster below which made its global debut a few weeks ago.
