According to recent spy images of the truck, the design of the test mule is very similar to what we've seen on the previously discussed ideas. The main motif is quirky, vintage, and boxy, with obvious allusions to the classic FJ40 Land Cruiser.
While engine details are yet to be confirmed, it's expected that the Hilux Champ will feature a diesel engine, likely the 2.4-litre unit from the Innova Crysta, as well as a strong-hybrid powertrain. Automatic gearbox options will be available, with rear-wheel drive as the standard configuration, although a 4WD version may also be offered. An electric vehicle (EV) variant of the Hilux Champ is not in the plans.
