Porsche Taycan Facelift Takes the Crown as the Most Powerful Road Car

Porsche has unveiled the facelifted Taycan, marking the first update since its 2019 debut. In true Porsche fashion, this facelift is not merely cosmetic but involves substantial electrical upgrades, making the Taycan the most powerful road car in the Porsche lineup. Beyond the aesthetic tweaks the Taycan receives improved electric hardware, increased efficiency, and enhanced performance. Powertrain and Performance

Porsche has elevated the Taycan's performance across all variants, with significant updates to the rear axle motor. The range-topping Taycan Turbo S, now the most powerful Porsche road car, delivers an impressive 952hp (up from 761hp). This power boost propels the Taycan to achieve a remarkable 0-100kph sprint in just 2.4 seconds making it the fastest accelerating Porsche ever. Even the base rear-wheel-drive model sees a substantial performance increase, accelerating from 0-100kph in 4.5 seconds.

Battery, Range, and Underpinnings

Beyond performance, Porsche has addressed the Taycan's range and battery efficiency. The new battery features revised cell chemistry, and the larger Performance Battery Plus sees an increase in gross capacity from 93.4kWh to 105kWh. The 800V architecture now allows recuperation of energy at up to 320kW. Charging capabilities have significantly improved, with a 10 to 80 percent charge taking only 18 minutes. The WLTP range figures receive a substantial boost, with a maximum of 678km—an increase of 35 percent.

Chassis and Suspension

Chassis improvements include the standardization of adaptive air suspension across all variants. All-wheel-drive models have the option to equip Porsche Active Ride suspension.

Exterior, Interior, and Features

Visually, the facelifted Taycan maintains a sleek appearance with subtle updates. LED headlamps, redesigned bumpers, new tail lamps and a variety of colors enhance its aesthetic appeal. Interior updates include software enhancements for the digital driver's display and infotainment unit. Porsche introduces two new leather-free interior upholstery options emphasizing sustainability.
