Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Taycan Turbo S Break Records at BIC

In a thrilling display of speed and precision, Porsche India has etched its name in the annals of motorsport history by setting two remarkable lap records at the prestigious Buddh International Circuit (BIC). The records were notched up by the iconic Porsche 911 GT3 RS and the groundbreaking Taycan Turbo S, both piloted by India's first Formula 1 driver, Narain Karthikeyan. The lap times, meticulously validated by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), affirm these Porsches as the new benchmarks for production cars and electric vehicles (EVs) on the challenging BIC track.

Production Car Record: Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Narain Karthikeyan, a name synonymous with speed and precision, took the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and shattered the previous lap record of 2m0.266 seconds. This record, set by Karthikeyan himself in a 911 GT2 RS back in 2019, was eclipsed as he clocked an astounding new lap time of 1m59.854 seconds. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS emerges not only as the fastest production car to conquer the BIC but also as the first to achieve this feat in under two minutes, a testament to the relentless pursuit of excellence by Porsche.

Production EV Record: Porsche Taycan Turbo S

Not stopping at rewriting the record books for combustion-engine cars, Porsche, with Narain Karthikeyan behind the wheel of the Taycan Turbo S, clinched another milestone. The electric Taycan Turbo S, with its instantaneous torque and cutting-edge technology, blazed around the BIC, setting a new standard for production EVs.

Technical Excellence

Both the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Taycan Turbo S exemplify the pinnacle of automotive engineering.

FMSCI Validation

The lap times achieved by Narain Karthikeyan were meticulously validated by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the authoritative body in Indian motorsports affiliated with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).

Registering speeds of over 250km/h on the straights, the 911 GT3 RS’s new record cements its place among the Stuttgart-based brand’s illustrious list of accomplishments. The 525 PS 992-generation 911 GT3 RS is powered by Porsche’s 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine. The GT3 RS, touted as the ultimate road-going track car, also gets its speed from a strong focus on aerodynamics, specifically additional downforce to give it more grip in corners and several degrees of adjustability via simple-to-use controls on the steering. Besides the GT3 RS, the Taycan Turbo S also set a new lap record and became the fastest production EV around the BIC. The Taycan Turbo S is powered by a twin electric motor set-up that delivers power to all four wheels and generates 750 PS with 1,050 Nm of torque. The four-door sports luxury EV, also driven by Karthikeyan, attacked the BIC and registered an impressive lap time of 2m 10.313 seconds.
