Oppo Planning to Launch Electric Cars, Scooters and Bikes in India

BBK, the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer, is planning to provide in-house resources like research and development and manufacturing capacity support to Oppo, which is its subsidiary brand, aiding the company to launch its EV for the first time on the market.

After putting the smartphone market on fire, companies like OnePlus, Oppo, and Vivo are also focusing on the Indian EV market. In addition to that, these BBK-owned companies applied for a trademark in India for electric vehicles that may include cars, bikes, and scooters, but have not received approval for the trademark name OPPO, and are in the process of doing so.

Oppo hasn’t been clear about the type of electric vehicle they will launch first, but the little bird says that it can be a scooter or a bike, and the hardware they will use in the vehicle is not known yet. Nevertheless, the components used by the company will suit the Indian roads.

The high and rising prices of petrol and diesel, plus the decline in the natural resources’ reservoirs, created an opportunity for the companies to travel on the roads of the EV market. The expected release date is kind of foggy, but in the stated two-year span of time, a car can be assumed to be the first vehicle to be launched by the company.

Apart from that, Oppo’s sister companies, namely OnePlus, Vivo, and Realme, are also anticipating in their minds to walk into the EV markets to launch electric scooters or cars. Also, Realme has received approval for the trademark names Realme Techlife and TL Device. The company intends to sell a variety of EVs, including self-balancing scooters, self-balancing boards, electric bicycles, electric wheelchairs, and vehicle anti-theft devices.

BBK’s rival, Xiaomi, a Chinese manufacturer, has kept aside an investment of 10 million dollars to manufacture EVs. The company already sells portable electric scooters in the international market and is also planning to bombard the Indian market by the year 2024.
