New Honda Electric Scooter Concept Makes Debut: Potential for India

Honda is displaying a wide range of products and advanced technology at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show. A substantial proportion of these are related to the realm of EVs. Honda's latest reveal is an electric scooter prototype known as the SC e: Concept.

Honda SC e: electric scooter concept

It is clear from its design that the Honda SC e: electric scooter idea is intended for city commutes. It appears to be a straightforward device for daily usage and lacks any innovative design elements. The general profile is consistent with the typical scooter motif. Nonetheless, there are a few special features, such as the full-width LED DRLs.

The Honda SC e: electric scooter concept is made more aesthetically pleasing with the addition of blue highlights. The front lighting panel, handlebar, floorboard, and back tail part all have blue components. They accentuate the scooter's ivory-white color and highlight the electric nature of the car. Honda's most recent electric scooter idea is nothing special other than these features.

The ergonomics are quite loose and cozy. The one-piece seat is broad and lengthy, with a suitable amount of padding. It must be able to guarantee the highest level of comfort for the rider and the pillion. The flat floorboard area is usable for carrying a wide range of items because the battery packs are situated beneath the seat.

Storage space will be limited, though, due to the under-seat battery packs. Probably only enough room for a helmet and a few other tiny items. It doesn't seem like the prototype has any front-mounted storage. When the scooter enters the production phase, though, that might alter. For the majority of scooters designed for commuters, front storage is a standard feature.

In terms of technological integrations, the Honda SC e: electric scooter prototype is planned to include Bluetooth-based connectivity features. A rectangular area can be seen for a digital instrument cluster, albeit the prototype does not currently have one fitted. The instrument console will have modest proportions and will not be as large as screens found on scooters such as the Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X.

Honda SC e: electric scooter performance

Honda SC e: electric scooter concept includes two swappable batteries. Honda refers to these as Mobile Power Packs. The business has indicated that the scooter will have a good speed and range. However, the precise figures have not been disclosed. The scooter's motor is positioned on the back wheel. This is distinct from other commuter scooters with hub-mounted motors. Front telescopic forks and a single shock absorber are standard and the disc-drum combo handles braking responsibilities.

Concerning the scooter's engine, Honda has not disclosed any information. Conversely, Honda has said that the scooter's operation would align with the ideals of clean electric transportation. There will be no carbon gas emissions from the scooter and its purpose is to give people pleasant and enjoyable journeys. Honda's ambition to become carbon neutral by 2050 will include the scooter.
