Bajaj Chetak On-Road Price Expectation (Bookings to Commence Soon): Chetak electric scooter, the debut product from the brand in the Indian scooter segment has been recently unveiled by Bajaj Auto at an event in New Delhi. As per the latest buzz, the bookings for the new Chetak scooter will commence in the coming days. Featuring a sleek-retro profile, the all-new Chetak’s price has not been revealed by the brand though, one can expect it to be close to INR 1.25 lakh (on-road). The estimated on-road price of the scooter makes it pretty close to the Ather 450, which is currently available in the market with an approximate on-road price tag of INR 1.23 lakh. Resurrected after 14 years, the Chetak moniker has been offered to the all-new electric scooter, which will line up in the company’s portfolio under the Urbanite branding. The retro-electric scooter will be available to the customers from January 2020 and it will also fall under the FAME II subsidy scheme offered by the Indian government. Coming to the retro design, the Bajaj Chetak electric gets an overall neat look that complements its unique and premium bits. The brand has offered the electric scooter with a round headlamp setup mated to a round LED DRL. The curvy body panels in addition to a comfortable seat further accentuate its premium looks. The e-scooter features an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery mated to a 4kW electric motor while the rider can further operate it in two modes namely: Eco and Sport, offering a range of 95km and 85km respectively. In terms of suspension setup, the Bajaj Chetak electric gets a single-sided trailing arm unit at the front and a mono-shock absorber at the rear. The braking duties are handled by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear mated to CBS (Combined Braking System). The brand has offered the Bajaj Chetak electric with a fully-digital instrument panel in addition to offering six colours namely: Blue, Red, Ivory, Black, White, and Gold. Apart from the Ather 450, the e-scooter from Bajaj will compete with the likes of scooters from Okinawa, Ampere, and Kymco22 in the Indian market.
