New 2024 Mercedes G-Class Facelift Unveiled

The Mercedes G-Class, an icon of luxury off-roading, has received a subtle yet impactful facelift. The most recent upgrade guarantees that the G-Class will always be a representation of classic style and off-road prowess. It does this by adding mild hybrid engines to the lineup making small design adjustments, and improving performance.

Under the Hood: Mild Hybrid Power

A significant upgrade in the refreshed G-Class is the adoption of mild hybrid technology for all models. The G450d now sports a 3.0-litre straight-six diesel engine paired with a 48-volt integrated starter generator, boosting its output to 357 HP and 750 Nm of torque. The G500 also benefits from a power increase, with its 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine now producing 436 HP.

Exterior and Aerodynamic Enhancements

The facelift includes a new front bumper and radiator grille, along with aerodynamic improvements inspired by the forthcoming EQG electric model. These changes aim to enhance efficiency and reduce noise levels inside the cabin. A lower-mounted front-facing camera and a new 'transparent bonnet' view feature improve the visibility of obstacles, making off-roading even more intuitive.

Interior Updates and Off-Road Functionality

Inside, the new G-Class boasts a sporty steering wheel design and the latest MBUX infotainment system with a touchscreen interface. Convenience features including keyless entry and temperature-controlled cup holders have been added to the car. The 'control center' dashboard layout has been revamped, offering easier access to essential off-road functions.

Despite these modern updates, the G-Class continues to excel in off-road performance, with impressive ground clearance, fording depth, and stability on inclines. In addition, the AMG G63 model gets upgraded with an advanced active suspension system and better power delivery which guarantees better handling on and off the road.

Launch Expectations in India

The Mercedes G-Class facelift is expected to make its debut in India by the end of this year, promising to continue the legacy of this iconic vehicle with its blend of classic design and modern technology.
