The base model will maintain its 3.0-liter straight-six diesel engine, now paired with a 48V mild hybrid integrated starter generator (ISG). This upgrade boosts power to 357hp and significantly increases torque to 750Nm. Consequently, the model has been renamed from G400d to G450d. In select markets, the G500 will remain available, featuring a 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line petrol unit upgraded to produce 436hp.

The G-Class's appearance has minor adjustments such as a revised front bumper and radiator grille. Additionally, the A-pillars have been slightly rounded, and a new lip has been added to the windscreen's leading edge. Reducing interior noise and improving aerodynamic efficiency are the goals of these adjustments. With these updates and others, the drag coefficient of the G-Class has been reduced from 0.53 to 0.48.

The front-facing camera has been repositioned lower in the bumper to improve obstacle visibility using a new 'transparent bonnet' view. In order to guarantee that the camera stays clean, this modification required the installation of a tiny auto-deploying washer jet.

Inside, the G-Class receives the same version of the MBUX infotainment system found in the GLS facelift. This includes the addition of a touchscreen for the first time, along with temperature-controlled cup holders and a wireless mobile charger. Keyless entry has been incorporated for the first time, requiring significant work to implement without redesigning the door handle itself.

The off-road 'control center' in the dashboard's middle has been redesigned to provide easier access to key functions.

Off-Road Technology of the Mercedes G-Class Facelift

The off-road capabilities of the G-Class remain unchanged, boasting a ground clearance of 229mm, a fording depth of 70cm, a 31-degree angle of approach, and the ability to remain stable on inclines of up to 35 degrees.

Updates to the Mercedes-AMG G63 Facelift

The high-performance Mercedes-AMG G63 variant has also been updated, featuring the same 48-volt mild-hybrid technology as the standard G-Class. The hand-built 4.0-liter V8 engine still produces 585hp. The AMG G63 now offers an optional AMG Active Ride Control, Mercedes' hydraulic, anti-roll bar-free suspension technology, first introduced on the AMG SL 63, designed to enhance both on- and off-road performance.
