Mercedes Unveils EQS Facelift with Fresh Grille Design and Upgraded Battery

Mercedes-Benz has recently unveiled the facelifted version of the EQS integrating several aesthetic updates and functional enhancements that align it closer to the iconic S-Class in terms of design and luxury. Scheduled for release in the 2024 model year this update not only refines its appearance but significantly boosts its range capabilities making it an even more appealing option in the luxury electric vehicle (EV) market.

Key Updates to the Mercedes-Benz EQS Facelift

Styling and Design

The EQS facelift introduces a new grille design, mimicking the traditional radiator grille found on the S-Class, adorned with faux chrome elements. This change is complemented by the addition of a 'standing star' on the hood, further aligning the EQS with the aesthetic pedigree of Mercedes-Benz's flagship internal combustion engine models.

The EQS now optionally offers the Extended Rear Luxury Lounge Pack, which includes a unique slanted footrest and the ability to adjust the rear seats up to 38 degrees for an even more relaxing travel experience. These seats are also equipped with heating functions and pneumatic adjustments for ultimate comfort.

Upgraded Battery and Range

One of the most significant upgrades in the EQS facelift is the enlarged 118kWh battery pack, which extends the driving range by approximately 82km over the previous model. This enhancement means the EQS could potentially offer a range exceeding 900km marking a significant step forward in EV technology and endurance.

Expected Launch and Market Position

The launch of the EQS facelift in India is anticipated within this year as part of Mercedes-Benz's extensive rollout plan, which includes nine new models. Currently priced at Rs 1.62 crore (ex-showroom) for the pre-facelift version, the EQS facelift is expected to see a slight increase in price reflecting its enhanced features and capabilities. Upon its release it will continue to compete with other high-end electric models like the BMW i7 and Porsche Taycan. It promises to offer one of the most comprehensive and luxurious electric driving experiences available on the market.
