The popular EQG electric SUV concept will make its debut by Mercedes-Benz India at the next Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, which is scheduled to take place from February 1-3.The dates of the Expo are February 1–3. Additionally, the company will be showing the newly redesigned GLA SUV and the brand-new AMG GLE 53.
Later this year, the all-electric version of the iconic G-Class, known as the Concept EQG, is expected to make its world premiere. The EQG maintains the unique design of the classic internal combustion-powered G-Class while introducing minor cosmetic changes that bring it into line with Mercedes-Benz's new EQ line of electric cars (EVs). Revealed at the Munich auto show the previous year, the Concept EQG is an electric vehicle based on the G-Class that is close to production.
Taking a closer look, you'll spot the EQG's distinct touches like bespoke 22-inch rims, a visible front panel etched with a 3D star design instead of the usual grille, and an inventive compartment where you'd expect to see the spare tire that doubles as a charger resembling those old-school phone boxes. Particularly, the idea does not include a front trunk, which is a departure from prior EQ models' standards. The concept's roof rack has a bright LED strip running the length of its front edge, which gives out an understated yet attractive hint as to the possibilities of an electrified G-Class. With its independent front suspension and rigid rear axle, the EQG is built on the same ladder-frame structure as the standard G-Class.
Under the engine, the EQG idea features four wheel-mounted motors that can be controlled separately. A two-speed gearbox that has both low- and high-range gearing is also included. Mercedes-Benz has made indications that the production car will retain this quad-motor system. A low center of gravity is ensured by the battery's clever integration into the ladder frame, providing an unmatched driving experience.
The upcoming EQG will introduce a G-Turn function. You can press a button on the dashboard with this special feature. That button makes the electric motors on each side spin the wheels in opposite ways. This unique feature, which is operated by an easily accessible button on the dashboard, allows the electric motors on either side to rotate the wheels in opposite directions. A single tap causes the car to perform an effortless 360-degree turn, making an average journey feel much more exciting and unique. With the help of the efficiently placed paddle shifters on the steering wheel, the driver can choose the right turning direction.
