The side profile of the Y17 exudes power and confidence, characterized by flared wheel arches, substantial body cladding, larger doors and windows, and chrome window lining. Sporting large, sporty 19-inch alloy wheels fitted with low-profile tires, the 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara achieves an athletic look. The boxier profile, particularly noticeable in the front fascia and roofline, is a departure from the predominantly curvy lines of the stock model. This boxy design ensures optimal space for passengers in the 2nd and 3rd rows. At the rear, the Y17 showcases updated tail lamps, tailgate, and bumper.

Performance and Powertrain Options

Under the hood, the Maruti Y17 is expected to be equipped with the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder K15C mild hybrid petrol engine, delivering 103.06 PS of maximum power and 136.8 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include 5MT and 6AT. Higher trims may feature the 1.5-litre 3-cylinder strong hybrid petrol engine, generating 115.56 PS and 141 Nm, paired with an e-CVT gearbox.

Seating Options and Interior Features

To cater to a wider customer base, Maruti plans to offer both 7-seat and 6-seat variants of the Y17. The 7-seater version is expected to launch first, with the 6-seat variant featuring captain seats in the middle row and additional equipment and interior color themes, and new options are likely to enhance the overall appeal.

Market Positioning and Price

The Maruti Y17 is positioned to compete in the market with an expected starting price of around Rs 15 lakh. It will rival SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector Plus.

Collaboration with Toyota

Furthermore, Toyota is anticipated to introduce its own rebadged version of the 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara solidifying the strategic collaboration between Maruti Suzuki and Toyota.

With its improved styling, strong performance, and adaptable seating arrangements the Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater seeks to captivate SUV aficionados, and its release is expected to further Maruti's dominance in the competitive Indian SUV market.
