Maruti-Toyota to Launch a New SUV Above Vitara Brezza in India

Maruti-Toyota to Launch a New Crossover-SUV Above Brezza: In an agreement between global giants Toyota and Maruti Suzuki, both of them have decided to continue to share products and technologies across various countries. In India, this partnership has resulted in the establishment of two brand new products, namely Toyota Glanza and Toyota Urban Cruiser. These new products are based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The Japanese carmakers are also planning to introduce a series of cars that will be shared by both partners. Under their partnership, they are now planning to launch a new crossover that has been internally codenamed D22 and is expected to be positioned above the Vitara Brezza in the Maruti Suzuki’s Indian line-up. A report suggests that the new crossover model will be manufactured at Toyota’s manufacturing unit situated in Bangalore. It has come to notice that this new product will be a mid-size SUV, and it would be competing with cars like Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Tata Harrier, and MG Hector among others. The production-ready model of Maruti-Toyota D22 Crossover-SUV could also get an all-wheel-drive variant, as currently no Maruti Suzuki car in India is offered with this setup. Toyota Kirloskar Motor is also supposed to make use of the crossover platform, and they would be selling their version of D22 through their very own dealerships across the country. Apparently, Maruti Suzuki is working on another crossover model, which is codenamed YTB. This new model would be referred to as the ‘sister’ model of Baleno and is expected to be a premium hatchback. In one of the recent updates, Toyota would also be launching an MPV in India, which would basically be the re-badged version of the Maruti Ertiga.
