6-Seater Maruti Suzuki XL6 Spotted; India Launch on August 21

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch their XL6, the crossover based on Ertiga on August 21, 2019. The leaked images of the all-new Maruti Suzuki XL6 people mover has been surfaced online giving us an insight to all its details ahead of the official launch. The brand will be selling the XL6 via the NEXA premium showrooms in India while the new addition to the brand’s portfolio will feature a six-seat cabin. As seen from the leaked images, the XL6 retains a similar styling as that of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV though gets various mechanical and cosmetic changes. The 6-seat layout for the XL6 is expected to be achieved via captain seats in the second row. The MPV gets a raised height as compared to the standard model of the Ertiga while features body cladding on the side panel as well as the rear bumper. The XL6 gets a faux skid plate while features a larger grille at the front in addition to the bigger LED headlamps. Apart from these cosmetic changes, the standard styling of the XL6 remains identical to the Ertiga MPV where both the offerings from Maruti shares the same body panels, tail lamps as well as the tailgate. Coming to the front profile, the XL6 has been equipped with a flatter hood design which further features an upright nose. The six-seater XL6 gets a trapezoidal grille at the front surrounded by dual chrome strips which smartly merges the LED daytime running lamps accommodated by the angular headlights. The section under the headlamps of the XL6 has been given a distinguished design language while the front bumper has been redesigned to give a chunkier look. The brand has equipped the XL6 with Ertiga inspired chrome inserts surrounding the front grille while the sunroof has been given a miss for the upcoming 6-seater. In terms of interior, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 is expected to get an all-black detailing with Maruti's new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system. The brand is expected to equip the XL6 with several premium features to set it apart from the Ertiga. Mechanically, the all-new Maruti Suzuki XL6 will get the brand’s latest 1.5-litre petrol engine that does the duty on Ertiga as well as Ciaz. According to the reports, the brand will not offer any diesel engine variant for the new XL6. Maruti is highly likely to debut their BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine for the XL6. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox though a 4-speed torque-converter automatic could be introduced by the brand later in time. The XL6 is expected to be launched in multiple trim options. The price tag of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be revealed at the time of the official launch though it would be interesting to see how the brand will line up its new addition against the likes of several soft-roaders available in the Indian market.
