Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door: A Comparison of Philippines-spec and India-spec Models

Maruti Suzuki has recently developed its Jimny lineup with the introduction of the 5-door variant in the Philippines. While the basic principle of the Jimny remains untouched, there are impressive distinctions between the Philippines-spec and India-spec models, encompassing pricing, features, and engine specifications.

Price

In the Philippines market, the Jimny is offered in two trims, priced between ?15.58 lakh and ?17.08 lakh. Converting to Indian currency, these prices translate to approximately Rs 23.10 lakh and Rs 25.33 lakh, respectively. Conversely, the India-spec Jimny is priced between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 14.95 lakh (ex-showroom). This substantial price difference, exceeding Rs 10 lakh, is noteworthy.

New Colour Options

While retaining its distinctive design language, the Philippines-spec Jimny presents a revised color palette. The vibrant kinetic yellow shade available in India is replaced by a chiffon ivory metallic color, and the bluish black monotone option is substituted by a Jungle Green shade, serving to diverse aesthetic preferences.

Identical Cabin Design

Despite the change in driving orientation (from right-hand drive in India to left-hand drive in the Philippines), the cabin layout remains consistent across both variants. The Philippines-spec Jimny boasts a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic air conditioning, connected car technology, cruise control, keyless entry, and a multi-info display. However, it is important to note that the Philippines-spec model offers six airbags only in its top-spec trim, unlike the India-spec model which includes them as standard across all variants.

Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox, with a 4-wheel drive system featuring a low-range transfer case as standard.

As the Jimny gains traction globally its debut in left-hand drive markets represents a significant milestone for Maruti Suzuki's global presence.

In the Indian market the Jimny competes with formidable rivals such as the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha, highlighting its versatility and appeal across diverse landscapes and driving conditions. Everywhere you look, the Jimny is winning hearts. It has got this capacity for fitting in whether that is on a dusty street  through city streets. People who crave wild rides and those who navigate rush-hour traffic are all lining up to get one. As Maruti Suzuki continues to enhance its Jimny lineup, the vehicle's reputation as a rough and dependable off-roader is further solidified.
