Maruti Jimny Discounts Getting a Makeover in January 2024

Maruti Suzuki's popular lifestyle SUV, the Jimny, has seen a strategic move with the launch of the Thunder Edition in December 2023. Priced at Rs. 10.74 lakh and available in two variants (Zeta and Alpha), the Thunder Edition aimed to boost the off-roader's sales, proving effective in its limited-run approach.

Discount Dynamics Changing

In a recent discussion with Shashank Shrivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki, it has been revealed that the automaker plans to make significant adjustments to the discounts on the Jimny starting January 2024. This decision follows the success of the Thunder Edition which contributed to the SUV's market presence.

Strategic Pricing Approach

Despite the reduction in discounts, Maruti Suzuki clarifies that there won't be a decrease in the SUV's base price to stimulate sales. This move is part of the brand's strategic approach to maintain the Jimny's value proposition while adjusting the promotional incentives.

Post-Hike Clarity

Adding to the equation, Maruti Suzuki had recently announced a price hike across its range, set to take effect this month. The exact extent of the hike is yet to be disclosed creating anticipation within the market.

Under the Hood

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny, known for its robust off-road capabilities, houses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Paired with a five-speed manual and a four-speed torque converter unit this powertrain delivers 103bhp and 134Nm of torque ensuring a spirited drive on and off the road.

Thunder Edition Impact

The Thunder Edition, introduced to the market at Rs. 10.74 lakh, played a pivotal role in enhancing the Jimny's sales. Launched with a limited-run strategy the Thunder Edition proved effective in attracting consumers.

Discount Adjustment Strategy

In a recent conversation with Shashank Shrivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki, it was revealed that the discounts on the Jimny would see a significant reduction starting January 2024. Despite this the brand is committed to maintaining the SUV's competitive pricing and has no plans to lower the base prices.

Market Dynamics and Price Hike

While emphasizing the commitment to competitive pricing, it was highlighted that the reduction in discounts is not accompanied by a reduction in the SUV's base prices. Last month, Maruti Suzuki announced a price hike across its range, effective this month. The specifics of the price hike are set to be disclosed soon.
