Mahindra XUV500 Petrol Automatic was recently launched in India for INR 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The car comes equipped with a 6-speed automatic unit and presently carries the features from W9 Diesel variant of the popular SUV.
Manual is not an option in India while the car being sold in Qatar has a 6-speed manual gearbox option on the base variant. The 2.2L, four cylinder petrol engine on the XUV500 G AT is good for 140 PS at 4500 rpm and 320 Nm at 2000-3000 rpm. This makes the engine equally powerful as the diesel version, getting behind by just 10 Nm in terms of torque.

No difference is seen on the feature front while driving will now feel different with a much silent engine under the hood. For those who are looking into fuel efficiency figure, The new
XUV500 G AT won’t be an efficient option. Mahindra has not even disclosed the values from their side.
Standard features on the car includes 7inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring system, 17inch alloy wheels and projector headlights. The petrol version now comes without the micro-hybrid system used in all other XUV500 diesel variants in India.
XUV500 has a lot more standard safety options than other cars, carrying dual airbags, ABS, ESP and roll over mitigation. Things that are left behind includes an electric sunroof and six-airbag security cover. XUV500 Petrol is a direct rival to Jeep Compass in this segment.
The car with an automatic gearbox is placed quite high in the Jeep lineup. Jeep uses a much smaller 1.4L engine producing 163 HP and 250 Nm of torque. Due to its five seat layout and smaller size, it is more eco friendly but less appealing in terms of value for money. Still, that is the only comparison one could find nearby.
