Lancia Gamma 2026 Confirmed: Electric Flagship Fastback Similar to BMW 4 Series

Lancia has published its roadmap for the next decade, and it is apparent that electric vehicles will be a priority. The roadmap includes the introduction of the new Ypsilon in 2024, followed by the launch of the flagship Gamma EV in 2026, and ultimately an all-electric Delta in 2028.
The Ypsilon will be offered in both pure battery-powered and hybrid versions. However, starting in 2026, Lancia will exclusively introduce new electric vehicles (EVs), and by 2028, their entire lineup will consist solely of electric models. This means the hybrid Ypsilon will have a relatively short lifespan, lasting only four years.

In 2026, Lancia plans to debut its first exclusive electric vehicle, which will be manufactured at Stellantis' Melfi plant in Italy. This electric car will be about the same size as a BMW 4-series measuring 185 inches (4.7 meters) in length. Lancia's CEO, Luca Napolitano, described it as an elegant fastback based on the STLA medium platform. According to Napolitano, "Our second flagship car, slated to debut in 2026, will be named 'Gamma'."

Napolitano emphasized that this flagship Lancia car will be elegant both on the outside and inside, providing a comfortable and stylish driving experience. The STLA Medium platform is well-suited for Lancia, as a native battery electric vehicle (BEV) will be highly efficient and offer both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. Due to this platform, Lancia anticipates that the flagship model will have an impressive range of up to 435 miles (700 km) on a single charge. The company also expects that 50 percent of the EV's sales will come from European countries outside of Italy.

Details about the new Delta, scheduled for 2028, are limited. However, in previous statements to Italian media, Luca Napolitano confirmed that the compact model will return as a true Delta. It will be an interesting car that demonstrates advancement and technology, and it will, of course, be electric.

All three of these vehicles align with Stellantis' Dare Forward 2030 strategy. The carmaker wants to show its dedication to sustainability and electric transportation by reaching zero carbon emissions by 2038.
