Exterior Design
New industry standards are being set by the Kia K4, a tiny sedan. It is vibrant and full of vigor, daring, and ambition. Kia's designers employed an ingenious twisting method they refer vehicle as "Twist Logic" to mathematically arrange squares in order to create a contemporary and distinctive body pattern. The way that light plays off these squares highlights the entire body design. This is especially noticeable in the side profile, where the sweptback fastback style ideally embodies Kia's audacious and forward-thinking brand philosophy.
The front of the Kia K4 makes an immediate and striking impression. Vertical headlamps positioned at the outer edges of the front create a wide, confident stance, while the Daytime Running Light (DRL) elements integrate seamlessly with horizontal chrome strips, enhancing the K4's sophisticated appeal. The latest iteration of Kia's star map lighting technology, inspired by a 'constellation' theme, represents a further evolution of the brand's signature Tiger Face.
The rear of the K4 exudes the same strength and dynamism, with vertical lamps at the extremes cutting vertically downwards towards a wide, technical bumper. The bumper incorporates an air diffuser adding to the overall strong and graphical design.
Interior Design
Kia's Opposites United design philosophy is evident in the K4's interior, where the 'expected' driver-oriented cockpit meets an 'unexpected' layout design, creating a unique character. Unlike traditional driver-oriented interiors with screens and controls angled towards the driver, the K4's interior features a bold graphic split that separates the driver from the passenger. The passenger compartment, which is cozy and human-like, is separated from the driver's cockpit, which is technological and machine-like.
Based on the 'Joy for Reason' pillar of Kia's design philosophy, the interior design places equal emphasis on the cabin's emotional appeal and its practical features. Contrasting technical elements for the driver with comfort elements for the passenger strikes a balance between the rational and the emotional.
Occupants can choose from a variety of direct and indirect lighting options to illuminate the K4's sophisticated cabin. The dashboard features a large central screen and an elegantly designed central console, emphasizing the split between the driver and passenger environments. While physical buttons and controls are minimal, a line of beautifully designed physical buttons and a rotary controller enable quick, intuitive interaction with the car's functions. Four buttons also allow for smooth operation of the heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems.
The K4 features a variety of new seating trims, materials, patterns, and colors including Medium Gray, Slate Green, Canyon Brown, and Onyx Black which contribute to the interior's sophisticated and luxurious atmosphere.
