Kia EV3 Concept - A Potential Glimpse into the Next-Gen Seltos SUV

Kia's Exciting EV Day in Korea : unveiling two new concept vehicles

Kia recently celebrated its inaugural EV Day in Korea, unveiling two new concept vehicles and sharing specifications for the upcoming EV5 SUV. Among these concepts, the EV3 SUV concept is particularly intriguing as it could offer a sneak peek into what the next-generation Seltos SUV might look like.

Seltos Facelift and the EV3 Concept

The recently launched facelifted Seltos is not going away anytime soon, and while the EV3 concept isn't production-ready yet, it does provide several hints about the future Seltos. Notably, the two vehicles share similar dimensions, and the design language of the EV3 appears to be a modern evolution of the current Seltos.

Design Parallels: Front and Rear

Comparing the two vehicles, you'll notice a similar vibe in the front despite the EV3's closed-off nose. They even share design cues in their turn indicators. From the side, there are similarities in the windowlines, and the EV3 sports stylish alloy wheels and squared-out wheel arches that are characteristic of concept cars. The rear of the EV3 also draws parallels with its sleeker LED taillights, reminiscent of the current Seltos' connected LED taillights. Similarities can also be observed in their bumper designs.

Differing Interiors and Electrification

While the exteriors align in various ways, their interiors take different approaches. The EV3's cabin is characterized by minimalism and sustainability. Although the powertrain details for the EV3 have not been officially disclosed, it is known to be an all-electric concept with an estimated range of around 300 kilometers.

Speculations on Electric Transition

It's crucial to acknowledge that the connection between the EV3 concept and the next Seltos is speculative, as Kia has not officially confirmed this link. However, as the world shifts towards cleaner mobility solutions, the next Seltos could possibly be an electric vehicle, with the EV3 concept providing a close interpretation. It's also likely that Kia will continue to offer traditional gasoline and diesel versions alongside the all-electric model.

Current Seltos and Its Competitors

Currently, the Seltos offers multiple powertrain options, including petrol and diesel, with the prices ranging from approximately Rs 10.89 lakh to Rs 20.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted Kia Seltos competes with a range of popular vehicles, including the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, and the five-seater variants of the Mahindra XUV700.
