Kawasaki Unveils 2023 Z650RS Update with Traction Control

Kawasaki has introduced an update to its 2023 Z650RS with the addition of traction control. This update follows the Japanese bike manufacturer's trend of improving its 650cc mid-range lineup which includes the Ninja 650, Z650, Versys 650, and now the retro-styled Z650 RS.

What's New in the 2023 Kawasaki Z650RS

Kawasaki's 2023 Z650RS now features a traction control system called the KTRC System and this system offers two modes for riders' safety. Mode 1 allows for more aggressive cornering with less intrusive traction control, while Mode 2 is optimized for challenging and wet riding conditions. There's also the option to disable traction control.

Specifications and Features

The Z650RS is powered by a 649cc parallel-twin engine producing 67bhp and 64Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It retains twin 300mm front disc brakes, a single 220mm rear disc, and dual-channel ABS and the bike has a saddle height of 790mm, ground clearance of 130mm, and a 15-liter fuel tank. It features a single seat, retro round headlight, a twin-pod analog-digital instrument console, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Pricing and Competition

The pricing for the 2023 Z650RS in India has not been announced yet. However, the current version is priced at Rs 6.92 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Z650RS faces competition from bikes like the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, Triumph Trident 660, and Honda CB650R, and it globally competes with models like the Yamaha XSR700, Honda CB650R, and Ducati Scrambler.

With this update, riders can now enjoy greater control and safety features for their urban experiences while the Z650RS now meets the safety standards of its competitors. In 2024, it is anticipated to launch in India.
